Books For Africa. A simple name for a simple organization with a simple mission. We collect, sort, ship and distribute books to children in Africa. That's all we do. Our Mission: to end the book famine in Africa.

    Goods Donation Instructions/Restrictions:
    The majority of the books sent to Africa by BFA are hardcover textbooks, primary through college level. Frequently requested books include: * Fiction & Non-fiction children through adult reading books that are hard-cover or quality soft-cover. * Post-secondary textbooks, hard-cover or soft-cover. * Reference books such as encyclopedias and dictionaries 1990 or newer. * Medical, nursing, and law textbooks & journals * School supplies—paper, pencils, pens, etc. are always welcome. Please consider these categories when making a donation: * Good Physical Condition—new or gently used, quality, durable books. * Age—20 years old or newer for textbooks and 15 years old or newer for changing subjects, ie. Encyclopedias, biological sciences, atlases, etc. * Content—Subject matter is relevant to an African reader.

    Drop-off Locations:
    Books donations are accepted at 715 E. Minnehaha Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55106. The warehouse is located in the old Stroh’s complex. The warehouse is located in between Payne and Arcade Avenues on Minnehaha just north of Interstate 94 and just east of downtown St. Paul.

    Other Affiliations/Accreditations:
    Better World Books runs book drives on 600 college campuses around the United States. Student organizations run these book drives to have Better World Books sell the books on the internet and have all profits after expenses given to one of three literacy affiliates. Student organizations running book drives determine which non-profit to donate funds. The three non-profits receiving funds are National Family Literacy Council, Room To Read and Books For Africa.
