CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW: The Midwest Division of the American Cancer Society is proud to participate in the Charities Review Council Accountability Report. By 2015, the American Cancer Society’s goal is to reduce cancer incidence rates by 25 percent, reduce cancer mortality rates by 50% and measurably improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families. To accomplish these 2015 goals, the American Cancer Society will focus on four key areas. They are:
- Provide high-quality and timely information to newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers.
- Fund innovative, high impact research and influence research funding from other sources.
- Improve cancer patients’ quality of life by assisting with service referral, community mobilization, collaboration, advocacy and direct services.
-Increase prevention and early detection of cancer by promoting and assisting with screening and early detection programs.
