    CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW:
We would like to believe that torture does not happen, or that if it does, that it is a rare and exceptional event. We know that such is not the case. Revelations of human rights abuses that have come to public light over the past few years have caused all of us to reflect on the value of human dignity. Torturers leave behind individuals who are now disabled: physically, psychologically, socially, economically, spiritually. Left unaddressed, these disabilities can trap survivors in a cycle of hopelessness and economic and social ruin. Without help, the suffering endures. Yet it is possible for survivors to move beyond the suffering and heal from their wounds. CVT has learned through its work over the past 20 years that effective care and rehabilitation strategies enable torture survivors to regain productive lives of dignity. CVT recognizes the importance of maintaining high standards and upholds a commitment to accountability as emphasized by the CRC. If you would like to learn more about how you can help with our mission of hope and healing, please visit our website at www.cvt.org or call 1-888-265-8775.
