Travel Advice for Single People

Travelling alone can be scary, especially if you’re a single person travelling abroad. Being in a foreign country where you don’t know anyone can be quite the daunting venture. However, travel alone doesn’t have to be that bad. In fact, it can be a great way to find companionship. How, you ask. Simple: don’t go alone. Instead, find a travel company and join a tour group. There are lots of travel companies that specialise in organising European holidays, where you can book a holiday home in Spain (vacasol.de/ferienhäuser-spanien.html) or a hotel in Paris with ease.
These tour groups are a great way of meeting people, and some even start dating after they meet. You can find these groups easily enough. Most travel agents have a list of group packages. You don’t have to know anyone else in the group. In fact, many single people join these groups to meet others. The cost of travel is often much less than it would be if you went alone because the cost is split among the various group members, and the larger party size means that you can take advantage of the group discount that many places offer. There’s usually at least one experienced tour leader on the trip, too, so you will have someone there who can answer your questions.
If you’d rather go it alone, that’s OK, too. You can always meet people who are staying in the same hotel or doing the same activities you are. If you’re young, one great way of meeting others is to stay in youth hostels. These hostels, which are especially popular in Europe, are also usually much cheaper than hotels. Usually, you will share a room with several others instead of having a private bedroom, which gives you a chance to make new friends. Some accommodation options are especially designed for groups of people, such as a large Mallorca Finca or a chalet in Switzerland.
Of course, as a single person in a new city or even a new country, you will need to be aware of your surroundings. Be sure you always know how to get to your hotel or how to contact the hotel staff if you get lost. Also, you should never leave all of your valuables out in the open in your hotel room. Instead, put them in your luggage or at least in the provided drawers. Be careful with your money, too. You will probably want to put some emergency cash in a hidden pocket or some other place so that if your wallet or purse is stolen, you’ll have something to fall back on. Some people even hide money or a credit card in the bottom of one of their shoes! It may sound strange, but it’s a safe place and can be a lifesaver if you’re robbed.
